Invitation to Participate in the Third Annual RMC Fall Reunion Golf Classic

Dear Reunion Class Secretaries:

In 2015 the RMC Class of 1970 coordinated the First Annual Fall Reunion Golf Classic event at Garrison Golf and Country Club.  We had excellent participation from reunion classes as well as Ex-Cadets and their guests from the Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and Kingston regions.   The event was held again last fall and this year we are once again holding a golf event on Friday September 29th.   It will be a shotgun start at 0830 hrs and will conclude by 1430 hrs to enable interested parties to get to the College to watch the Recruit Obstacle Race.

We welcome all reunion classes to enter teams to compete for the trophy donated by the Class of 1970.  The tournament will be a scramble format open to Ex-Cadets, their spouses/partners and guests.   Several foursomes from the classes of ’69, ’70 and ’71 will be returning to compete for team honours.  Registration will be handled by the RMC Club staff under the direction of Grey Mitchell.  The event is being coordinated once again by Bryan Bailey and myself as co-chairs.

In order to maximize participation and minimize administrative issues we are looking for each reunion class to appoint/recruit a “golf captain” who will act as the go between with the organizing committee.  With that in mind, could each of you please “recruit” a golf team captain for your class and forward the name and his/her coordinates to me as soon as possible.  We are a bit slow moving this event forward this year due to the handover of the reins at Panet House from Bryan to Greg and subsequent well-earned holidays for the former which took him away from Kingston for some time.  Now that Bryan is back we are moving into second gear to promote the event and build participation.

As in the past we will be approaching Canso Investment Funds and Muskoka Brewery to once again provide major sponsorship support for the tournament.   Both companies are owned and run by Ex-Cadets.  We will also work with the reunion class golf captains to identify any Ex-Cadets that wish to sponsor holes on behalf of their companies or employers and/or sponsor other aspects of the event.

Looking forward to hearing back from you at  your earliest opportunity.  The formal announcement of the event will be in the spring issue of Veritas going to press this coming week as well as in upcoming issues of e-Veritas.

Regards,

Jim Simpson
